Configure Canvas Course to integrate with CodeZinger Class

A CodeZinger Class can be linked with a corresponding Canvas course to enable Single Sign-On as well as Gradebook Integration.

 

LTI integration from CodeZinger class (for SSO)

This approach can be used to place a single link in LMS course to enable a student to Single Sign-On into CodeZinger class.

  1. In your CodeZinger Faculty account, navigate to CodeZinger Class that you desire to link to your LMS course
  2. Go to More -> Class Settings
  3. Click on ‘LMS Integration Information’ link
  4. Copy the LTI configuration parameters from the pop-up and paste in your LMS external tool page (instructions for Canvas given below)

 

LTI integration from CodeZinger assignment (for Gradebook sync)

This approach can be used to place multiple links in LMS course to enable a student to navigate directly to corresponding CodeZinger assignments and pass the grade back to LMS Gradebook.

  1. Navigate to CodeZinger class -> Assignment of your choice -> Configure
  2. Click "LMS Assignment Integration"
  3. Copy the LTI configuration parameters from the pop-up and paste in your LMS external tool page (instructions for Canvas given below)
  4. You are required to click on “Activate” on the pop-up to mark CodeZinger assignment/problem as LMS activated

 

Canvas Configuration for LMS Single-Sign-On

  1. Navigate to Course -> Settings -> Apps
  2. Click “+”
  3. Choose “Manual Entry” as “Configuration type
  4. Enter Name, e.g “CodeZinger”
  5. Enter “Consumer Key” and “Shared Secret” values from CodeZinger
  6. Set the Launch URL
  7. Privacy must be set to “Public
  8. Enter the “Custom Fields” from CodeZinger
  9. Click “Save
  10. Navigate to Home -> Add an item inside Module.
  11. Choose “External Tool” from drop-down
  12. Select “CodeZinger” link from drop-down
  13. You must check “Load in new tab” and click “Add Item

 

Canvas Configuration for LMS Gradebook sync

  1. Navigate to Course -> Settings -> Apps
  2. Click “+”
  3. Choose “Manual Entry” as “Configuration type
  4. Enter Name, e.g “CodeZinger”
  5. Enter “Consumer Key” and “Shared Secret” values from CodeZinger
  6. Set the Launch URL to "https://labs.codezinger.com/lti/problem/"
  7. Set the domain to "labs.codezinger.com"
  8. Privacy must be set to “Public
  9. Enter the “Custom Fields” from CodeZinger
  10. Click “Save
  11. Navigate to Home -> Assignments -> Add Assignment .
  12. Provide details like Assignment-Name, Points and choose “Submission Type” as “External Tool”.
  13. Click Find button and select CodeZinger app.
  14. Set the URL value to "Secure tool URL".
  15. You must check “Load in new tab” and click “Save
